The Réservoir du Crescent extends across the Nièvre and Yonne departments and is located in the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan. The artificial lake lies at the confluence of the Chalaux and Cure rivers. Below the Réservoir du Crescent, the Cure Valley winds for more than 45 kilometres; the Chalaux Valley is a deeply incised, wooded valley.

Culture and History
The Mazignien stele in Marigny-l'Église is part of the “Résistances en Morvan: Chemins de Mémoire” memorial trail on the subject of “The Allies in the War”. On the night of 18 July 1944, two aircraft collided during an anticipated parachute drop; 15 people died as a result. The majority of the crew members of the English aircraft involved in the Mazignien tragedy are buried in the cemetery of Marigny-l'Église.
Prehistoric and ancient remains are displayed in Marigny-l'Église, including Celtic tools, Celtic stones and Gallo-Roman objects. The church square preserves the remains of a former inn or post-house dating from the 18th century. The former complex served to accommodate travellers, carriages and horses.
The monumental cross of Marigny-l'Église, made of regional granite, is dated to 1501 and stands on a pyramid of six high steps.
