Portsall: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the port of Portsall, the L'Ancre An Eor Museum recounts the disaster of the Amoco Cadiz. It features models, interactive terminals and extensive documentation about this event. Opposite the museum, one of the supertanker’s anchors is on display year-round.

Maritime Portsall

The L’Ancre-An-Eor building at the port of Ploudalmézeau in Portsall houses the nautical centre, which is open year-round. It allows visitors to navigate in a sheltered bay.

Megaliths and Local History

Protected traces of early history include the dolmen gallery and the small leaning menhir of Guilléguy in Portsall. Both were classified as historic monuments by decree of 4 March 1921. The covered gallery of Guilliguy is a Neolithic burial site.

A cairn stands on Île Carn and has been classified as a historic monument since 1955. The cairn’s chamber dates back to at least 4,200 BC, making it more than 6,000 years old. The chapel or church of Portsall was built in 1896 and first extended in 1921; the enlarged church was blessed by Bishop Fauvel on 19 September 1957.

Coast and Trails

Pointe du Guilliguy is a rocky promontory overlooking the port of Portsall. Beside the port lies Beg al Lan, a small sandy and shingle cove.

The La Littorale en Iroise coastal route begins in Portsall and runs for more than 10 kilometres towards Landunvez. The local hiking options also include a route called Circuit de Portsall. The GR-34 hiking trail leads to the megaliths of Guilliguy, 600 m away.

Île Carn can be reached from Porsguen Beach via a 600 m-long isthmus that is passable only at low tide. In partnership with Les Frères Complices, bicycles are available for hire to explore Portsall and the surrounding area.

Water and Sailing

Nautisme en Pays d’Iroise in Portsall offers kayaking trips that allow visitors to approach the rocks and observe the local wildlife without disturbing it. The CNPK at Beg al Lan offers an introduction to sailing.
