Kersaint: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

For centuries, the sanctuary of Kersaint was an important place of popular devotion and attracted pilgrims from across the region. People came here especially for the pardons held on the Feast of the Assumption, Trinity Sunday and Ascension Day.

Culture

The present-day chapel of Kersaint was built between the 15th and 16th centuries and elevated to collegiate church status in 1518. The chapel has three stained-glass windows dating from 1901, created by the glass artist Léon Payan.

The Maison des Chanoines is also part of the site's history. It was built between 1550 and 1560 for a small community of six canons, which had been founded in 1518 to look after the chapel of Kersaint.

The Notre-Dame de Bon Secours chapel is located in Kersaint near the GR 34. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Palm Sunday to All Saints' Day and during the Christmas holidays; outside these periods, it is open on Sundays.

The Cycle Musical de la Chapelle de Kersaint-Landunvez puts on five or six concerts in summer.

Trails

The Circuit de Trémazan is a 12-kilometre circular hiking trail that takes three hours. It starts at the chapel of Kersaint, follows the former railway line to Argenton and, on the return journey, runs along the GR 34 on the coast from Penfoul to Trémazan and Kersaint.

The Ballade à Kersaint is an easy circular hiking trail measuring 5.5 kilometres.

The Viaduc de Kersaint was built from local granite, has five arches and rises 12 metres above the Kersaint River. The former railway line at the Viaduc de Kersaint is now a road used by cyclists and walkers.

Nature

The Sainte-Haude spring is a developed spring in a wooded setting away from residential buildings. It has a basin, a simple washhouse and a reused Gallic stele.

To reach the Sainte-Haude spring, park 300 metres before the end of the paved road, continue on foot and turn onto the path leading to the spring 200 metres later. The access path may be muddy after rain.

At high tide, Plage du Château is a small, sheltered cove near the village of Kersaint.

History

The Château de Trémazan in Kersaint is a fortified castle that is now in ruins. Entry is expressly prohibited because it is privately owned and there is a risk of falling masonry. An illustrated information board stands in the immediate vicinity of the car park at the Château de Trémazan.
