Super Besse combines a protected natural landscape at an altitude of 1,350 to 1,850 metres with activities that each have their own character: skiing when snow conditions are suitable, a viewpoint at the mountain station, and two rides with their own distinctive figures. You can consider whether the slopes, the views, Fantasticable or the year-round Super Coaster toboggan run should shape your trip. This preferred focus is a useful starting point when looking for a holiday rental.

Ski resort and night skiing

When snow conditions are optimal, the Super-Besse ski resort offers more than 40 kilometres of slopes for all ability levels. The distance describes the extent of the offer, while the ability levels reflect the different demands of a day on the slopes. If you are planning for people with different expectations of the slopes, you can take both details into account. When snow conditions allow, night skiing is also available until 8 pm. This means that, alongside the size of the resort and the ability levels, the time of day and snow conditions are also specific planning considerations. If evening skiing matters for your trip, take the hours until 8 pm into account.

Views and rides

A viewpoint and an orientation board are located at the mountain station of the Téléphérique de la Perdrix. This destination therefore brings together two different aspects: views and local orientation. Operating times may vary by season; if you include the mountain station in your plans, check its operating schedule for your intended visit.

The 1,600-metre-long Fantasticable runs above the station and reaches speeds of up to 120 km/h. Its two figures refer to the length of the route and the maximum speed; “up to” indicates the maximum speed. The year-round Super Coaster toboggan run features a 1,300-metre descent, a 130-metre vertical drop and a gradient of up to 35 percent. In comparison, the toboggan run is defined not only by its length but also by its vertical drop and gradient, while the Fantasticable is characterised by its length and maximum speed. These differences make it easier to compare the two rides based on their specific figures.

Getting there and choosing where to search

Super Besse is about a 45-minute drive from Clermont-Ferrand. Free, continuous shuttle services run within the resort in winter. Shuttle buses also run between the village of Besse and the Super-Besse resort; their timetables vary by season. These details relate to different journeys: free, continuous winter service applies to shuttle buses within the resort, while the connection to the village has seasonal timetables. If you plan to use this connection, check the timetable for the season of your visit.

When looking for a holiday rental, you can first decide whether Super Besse itself is your preferred destination or whether you also want to include the village of Besse in your plans. The seasonal timetables are a practical factor for this connection. You can then focus your search on the experiences you want to shape your stay: skiing, views from the mountain station or one of the two rides.
