Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur in Walbach houses a Silbermann organ. Jean André Silbermann built it in 1771 for the church of the Dominican convent in Guebwiller; in 1840, it was transferred to the present-day church. From 1987 onwards, organ builder Antoine Bois d'Orbey restored the Silbermann organ to its original condition, with mechanical action and a restored case.
