Jämijärvi offers a clear mix of culture and activity: the church, local history museum and old vicarage are on Church Hill; cycling routes lead through the centre or form longer loops through several localities. Nearby Jämi adds further highlights, including disc golf and holiday cabins. When choosing holiday accommodation, you can start by considering whether you want to focus on historic sites, a cycling trip or experiences in Jämi.

Culture on Church Hill

Jämijärvi Church is a Neo-Gothic building constructed in 1859–1860. The Old Vicarage stands next to it. Completed in 1856 as a home for the vicar’s family, it is considered one of Finland’s valuable old vicarages. The two buildings bring together different periods of construction in one place.

The local history museum is located on Church Hill in two old granaries. Exhibits include furniture, household items, objects from the travelling school and tools for making wooden drainage pipes. The collection thus ranges from items of everyday domestic life to those associated with schooling and crafts. Visitors interested in cultural history will find concrete insights into various aspects of life alongside the architecture.

Market square and Geopark information

Market days with stalls and other events take place on Jämijärvi’s market square in summer. Geopark information boards and a bicycle service station are also located there. You can find both at the market square, Jämijärventie 22. The square therefore combines event venues with practical information for cyclists.

Cycling from the centre to a circular route

The Geopark-reitti Satakunta cycling route passes through the centre of Jämijärvi. From the route, you can make detours to Hämeenkangas and other natural destinations in North Satakunta, including the Kauhaneva-Pohjankangas and Lauhanvuori National Parks. The Satakunta Geopark Tour offers a different format: it is a moderately challenging, 176.5-kilometre circular route for bikepacking and passes through the built-up areas of Kankaanpää, Siikainen, Honkajoki, Karvia and Jämijärvi. You can choose between a cycling route that passes through the town centre and a longer bikepacking loop.

The accessible Niinikota rest area is located along the Niiniharju route. It has a semi-open shelter and a dry toilet. If you rely on these facilities, check their condition before travelling.

Experiences nearby

Jämi has an 18-hole disc golf course classified as AAA1 and belonging to the top A group. During the snowy season, playing on the full course is prohibited for safety reasons, as it overlaps with Jämi’s winter skiing trails. This seasonal restriction is important to bear in mind when planning a day of disc golf.

In Suurimaa, Jämijärvi, the Yliluoman kotieläinpiha animal farm, established in 2026, offers encounters with miniature horses, goats, sheep, chickens, a miniature pig, rodents, rabbits, lizards and turtles. Visits are possible at specially designated times. The animal farm adds an experience featuring a variety of animal species to the selection, so plan your visit around the designated times.

Accommodation and choosing a location

There are dozens of holiday cabins to choose from in Jämi. If you want to stay there, check the specific availability before making your decision. When choosing a holiday apartment or house in Jämijärvi, your preferred activities can help guide your choice of location: Church Hill and the cycling route are in the centre, while disc golf and holiday cabins are associated with Jämi.

The main access route by car from the centre of Jämijärvi to Jämi follows Jämijärventie/Ikaalistentie (Road 261) and then Jämintie (Road 2613); the roads are paved.
