Kirkkonummi offers a variety of travel experiences: rocky shores and pine forest at Porkkalanniemi, several trails at Meiko, a dedicated ski area for children at Peuramaa Ski, and historic museum sites. This contrast is especially useful when planning your trip. Consider whether you want to focus mainly on landscapes and trails, winter sports or culture, and then tailor your search for a holiday rental accordingly.

Coastal landscapes and trails at Meiko

Porkkalanniemi is characterised by rocky shores, pine forest and beautiful views of the sea. This combination gives the area a distinct emphasis on its landscape: the rocks and forest are just as much a part of the peninsula’s character as the view of the water. If you appreciate coastal landscapes, Porkkalanniemi is a destination in its own right in Kirkkonummi.

The three trails at Meiko can also be distinguished by their length. Kuikankierros is 3.2 kilometres long and leads from the car park by Lake Meiko to the lake and around the Näseudden peninsula. Kotokierros is 4.4 kilometres long and leads from the Meiko car park to the ponds on the Dorgarn plateau: Korsolampi, Immerlampi, Kakarlampi, Kotolampi and Mustjärvi. There is a campfire site and a campsite along this route. At 8.3 kilometres, Meikonkierros is the longest of the three trails; it goes around Lake Meiko, with a campfire site along the route.

The trails’ lengths and destinations offer a practical guide for choosing: Kuikankierros leads to the peninsula, Kotokierros to several named ponds, and Meikonkierros around the lake. You can take the different trail lengths into account when planning without reducing the routes to a single kind of nature experience. If you are planning several days or outings, you can decide whether a shorter loop, the pond landscape or the longer lakeside loop best suits your interests.

Winter sports and activities for children

Peuramaa Ski has a dedicated ski area for children. It includes Finland’s longest conveyor-belt lift and a range of themed activities. For a trip with children, this offers a specific focus on winter sports, while the trails at Meiko appeal to other interests. If you plan to visit Peuramaa Ski, check its seasonal opening before your trip.

Museums and history

In 2026, the Hvitträsk Museum is open from 1 May to 30 September, Wednesday to Sunday, from 11 am to 5 pm. These hours provide a clear framework for planning your visit: you can visit on five days of the week during the stated period. Check the official opening hours again before your trip to make sure your plans fit a museum visit.

The Ragvalds Museum area is a traditional farm on the Old King’s Road. The farm’s twelve buildings still stand in their original locations. Its connection to the historic road and the number of preserved buildings make this a tangible aspect of Kirkkonummi’s cultural history. If you are interested in local history, you can include this farmstead as a focus of its own alongside nature trails and coastal landscapes.

Choose the right base for your trip

When choosing your holiday rental, consider which experiences matter most for your stay. Trail lengths can help you plan your days at Meiko; Hvitträsk’s opening hours and Peuramaa’s seasonal operation are other practical factors. First decide on your main destinations, then compare the location of an accommodation with your personal itinerary.
