Vuorela: Trails, Water and Winter Experiences
Accommodation in Vuorela
Vuorela offers various ways to spend time outdoors: nature trails with routes of different lengths, paths close to the shore and winter connections between Kunnonpaikka and Paasisalo. There are also views of Lake Kallavesi and facilities such as a public beach. If you’re looking for a holiday apartment, consider which of these aspects of the area you’d like to shape your stay.
Trails around Paasisalo
In Vuorela’s Paasisalo area, there is a nature trail with two routes, 2.2 km and 3.6 km long. The different route lengths give you a practical choice when planning your day, without having to commit to just one route. A downloadable map is also available for the Vuorela–Paasisalo Nature Trail, so you can check the route before your outing.
Another option is the 3.5 km illuminated fitness trail. The Paasisalo shelter is halfway along the route. If you like to plan around a set distance, this offers a different kind of guidance from the two routes on the nature trail. There are also some older but still usable outdoor fitness machines along the Paasisalo Trail. They add an opportunity to exercise to your time outdoors.
The Paasisalo Trail offers beautiful views of Lake Kallavesi. The area around the fitness trail is one of Vuorela’s main outdoor recreation areas. When choosing what to do, you can decide whether you’d rather focus on the route, exercise on the fitness machines or enjoy the lake views.
Winter trails and activities at Kunnonpaikka
There are also connections between outdoor activities in winter: the ski slopes at Kunnonpaikka connect via an ice trail to the fitness trail and Paasisalo recreation area. Vuorela’s ice trails are accessible, among other places, from the shore at Kunnonpaikka. If you’re planning winter activities for your trip, these connections are another factor to consider when choosing what to do.
Kunnonpaikka is set in a lakeside landscape close to nature, on Lake Kallavesi. The grounds include a minigolf course and a beach volleyball court. These facilities add two more ways to spend time outdoors alongside the trails and ski tracks. Consider each activity separately and choose what suits your stay.
Water, trails and getting around
There is a public beach in Simppa. Vuorela also has networks of footpaths and cycle paths close to the shore. If you enjoy walking or want to include a bike ride in your trip, you can make use of these paths as part of the area’s outdoor recreation options. The beach, cycling and walking paths, and nature trails each offer something different; they are distinct ways to experience Vuorela outdoors.
Vuorela’s guest jetty has ten mooring buoys and a boat ramp, and is intended for short-term use. It also has water and electricity connections, a facility for emptying sewage tanks and a toilet for boaters.
The paths around the rehabilitation centre also help you find your way around the area. Fitness trails run there and connect to shoreline recreation and green spaces, as well as Vuorela School. Vuorelantie connects to Highway 5 at both ends.
