The Jinonický dvorec and the château were rebuilt in 1685 at the expense of Jan Adolf Schwarzenberg and have preserved the character of a late 17th-century early Baroque manor house.
Culture and History
The Jinonický dvorec is mentioned as early as 1088. Archaeological investigations in the grounds of Jinonický zámek uncovered unusually well-preserved remains of a medieval manor.
Another historical trace leads to the Butovice fortified settlement site, which was a centre of early medieval settlement in the 8th and 9th centuries. The approximately nine-hectare site lies on a prominent spur above the valley of the Prokopský potok; to the northeast and east, it was defended by two transverse lines of fortifications.
During the Prague Uprising of 1945, Sokolovna Praha Jinonice served as the headquarters of the local command and as the centre of all revolutionary forces. The grounds of the Church of St Lawrence include a cemetery enclosed by a perimeter wall with two gates; a mortuary chapel projects beyond the wall in the northern part.
Nature and Leisure
The natural monuments listed in Jinonice include Vidoule. Butky Park is a recreational area with events, sports facilities, playgrounds and opportunities to relax in a green setting.
Trails and Leisure
The “Exploring Archaeological and Historical Monuments” route leads from the eastern edge of Stodůlky through the Jinonice area to Hlubočepy. It takes approximately three and a half hours and can be explored on foot or by bicycle along walking trails in the Prokopské údolí valley and its immediate surroundings.
On Butovická Street in Jinonice, there is a skate park of approximately 500 m² with various elements for experienced and less advanced riders. The Jinonice interchange area contains an entrance to Metro Line B and Praha-Jinonice railway station.
