Rokycany offers a diverse range of museums: the Muzeum Dr. Bohuslava Horáka specializes in history, ethnography, palaeontology and natural sciences. Along its tour route, it presents six permanent exhibitions. The museum also includes the Centre of Paleobiodiversity, which collects significant fossils from the younger and older Palaeozoic.

Culture

Rokycany’s cultural landscape includes the Muzeum na demarkační linii, the largest non-state military museum in the Czech Republic. Rokycany also has an urban conservation area. The Marian Column, a Baroque monument dating from 1725, stands on Masaryk Square in Rokycany. The Church of Our Lady of the Snows is a significant Gothic landmark in Rokycany.

Experiences

The Rokycany Observatory is located on Osecký vrch on the northern outskirts of Rokycany. It has a telescope with a primary mirror diameter of 508 millimetres. Using the instruments at the Rokycany Observatory, visitors can observe the Moon, planets, double stars, star clusters, galaxies and nebulae at night, as well as the Sun during the day.

On Kalvárie, the Stations of the Cross comprise artistically designed stone stations and an artificial Holy Sepulchre. A pseudo-Romanesque chapel in the form of a rotunda is also located on Kalvárie. The Kotel lookout tower south of Rokycany can be reached from the town via a blue-marked hiking trail. During the summer season, Koupaliště Rokycany is a bathing resort for family outings, relaxation and water fun.

Nature

The Rokycanská stráň nature monument protects fossil sites of the Klabava and Šárka formations of the Czech Ordovician. In 2023, Husovy sady in Rokycany received a renovated network of paths, new footbridges, a viewpoint overlooking the town and new benches.
