Okrouhlé Hradiště: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Okrouhlé Hradiště lies on the gently sloping southern slope of the southern spur of Hradišťský vrch. The settlement is surrounded by orchards; picturesque avenues of fruit trees run along the local paths and roads.

Nature and Trails

The Hradišťský vrch educational trail runs through the landscape as a 5.5-kilometre circular route with six information boards and green markings. The typical walking time is around 2.5 hours. Along the way, the educational trail offers several beautiful views over the surrounding region and provides information about the typical flora and fauna of this distinctive landscape, as well as the history of prehistoric settlement dating from the Late Bronze Age.

History and Culture

The Hradiště Hradišťský kopec site is designated a national cultural monument. At the same time, it is considered the second-largest hillfort complex in West Bohemia and an important testament to socioeconomic changes at the end of the Bronze Age.

The village itself also has a long history: the historic centre of Okrouhlé Hradiště has been documented since 1369. The Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist in Okrouhlé Hradiště is mentioned as early as 1380 and has been recorded as a parish church since 1696. The present Church of Saint John the Baptist is pseudo-Romanesque and dates from 1881.

Cycling

Several cycling routes include Okrouhlé Hradiště. The “Nad úterským potokem” cycling route runs via cycle route 306 through Okrouhlé Hradiště, as does the “K vodě dvakrát přes Hadovku” cycling route. The 48-kilometre Šipín cycling route runs through Okrouhlé Hradiště.
