Polubný: Holiday Apartments and Houses

In Horní Polubný stands the Baroque Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, built between 1789 and 1793. Regular church services and cultural events, particularly concerts of classical and sacred music, take place in the church. It can be reached by bus to the Horní Polubný stop, by train to Kořenov, and then on foot or by car.

Culture and History

In the 19th century, the inhabitants of Polubný made their living, among other things, from forestry work, spinning, weaving, glassblowing and glass pressing, as well as the production of potash.

The Tanvald–Kořenov rack railway is the steepest railway line in the Czech Republic. On the section between Dolní Polubný and Kořenov, the maximum gradient is 58 per mille. In 1992, the line was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

In the wider region around Polubný are the castles of Zamek Chojnik, Zamek Gryf and Czocha – Zamek XIVw., as well as the Spalona Strażnica ruins.

Winter and Trails

Jizerka can be reached by car exclusively from Horním Polubným. The Jizerský kopec ski lift is located in Horní Polubný on the left side of the road towards Kořenov, about 50 metres above the road.

Two groomed cross-country ski trails lead from Kořenov to Jizerka; one of them runs via Horní Polubný, and the trails connect to the Jizerská magistrála.

Landscape

The mountains of Zámky, Slezské Kamení, Hvězda and Mariánská hora are located in the immediate surroundings of Polubný.
