Hrušková: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hrušková is situated on the medieval salt route towards Loket and at the foot of Mount Krudum. Krudum reaches an elevation of 838 metres above sea level. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through Hrušková, leading to the Krudum lookout tower and the remains of the Church of Saint Nicholas.

Nature and trails

The lookout tower on Krudum is 10 metres high and was opened on 11 September 1932. The yellow-marked hiking trail through Hrušková connects the village with this lookout tower and with the remains of the Church of Saint Nicholas.

History

The Nothaft family founded Hrušková sometime in the second half of the 13th century. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1290 under the name Nothaftsgruen. A document from 1253 already records the existing Church of Saint Nicholas. The site of this church was probably occupied instead by a fortified structure that protected a section of the salt route in the deep forests.

Memorial sites

The memorial to the victims of the First World War in Hrušková was erected in 1938 and commemorates five fallen residents of the village. It is freely accessible. Opposite the memorial grows the protected lime tree “Lípa u pomníčku v Hruškové”.

Historical monuments

A stone reconciliation cross stands in the municipal forest on the former road to Loket, approximately 1.5 kilometres northeast of Hrušková. The reconciliation cross near Hrušková was re-erected at its site of discovery on 6 September 2003.

The Military Oath Memorial near Hrušková was erected in 1947 on the former Prameny military training area. It commemorates local members of the pre-war units of the State Protection Guard who lost their lives protecting the border shortly before the annexation of the Sudetenland by Germany.
