Nature and park

Kynžvart Castle Park is an extensive English landscape park covering an area of 293 hectares; 245 hectares of it are administered by the castle. It can be visited independently all year round and throughout the day. The park also has a 1.3-kilometre bat nature trail in the form of a virtual game for mobile devices.

A nature-themed trail also leads through the countryside outside the castle park: the Kynžvartské kyselky nature trail is located in the Slavkov Forest Protected Landscape Area and begins 1.5 kilometres southeast of Lázně Kynžvart on a side road towards Valy. The Liščí Springs along the trail are enclosed by two square wooden structures.

Spa and history

In the spa park, water can be drawn from the Richard spring at the drinking pavilion in the middle of the park. Historical landmarks include the parish church of St Margaret, which was rebuilt after the 1865 fire and consecrated in 1870, as well as the Marian Column in the lower part of the park on the square. It bears a stone Madonna and Child; the Baroque statue dates from 1709.

Kynžvart Castle is also part of the cultural character of Lázně Kynžvart. It is a Neoclassical summer residence associated with the Metternich family.

Castle and cycling route

The romantic ruins of Kynžvart Castle lie above the town. They are best reached on foot via a forest path. Another connection in the surrounding area is provided by cycling route 2253: it connects the starting point of the cycle paths at the cemetery in Mariánské Lázně with Lázně Kynžvart railway station; the station is designated as kilometre point 0.
