History and Monuments

Bezvěrov, known by the German name Weserau until 1945, was first mentioned in writing in 1273 in a papal document issued by Pope Gregory X as property of the Premonstratensian monastery in Teplá.

Bezvěrov once had a small village chapel, which, like several houses in the village, was demolished in the period after 1945.

A stone monument dating from 1860 has been preserved in Bezvěrov and was restored by the town of Teplá. The local farmer Karl Punzet had it erected as a votive offering after surviving an accident involving a stone-laden cart on July 11, 1854. A relief on the side of the monument depicts this accident.
