Černava was first documented in a written record from 1489; the place name is presumably derived from the Černý potok.

History and Events

The opening of the museum with an Easter exhibition and a workshop for spring decorations was scheduled for April 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in Černava. An event celebrating the summer solstice was scheduled for June 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the community bakery. Singing at the bell tower was scheduled for December 24, 2025, at 10:00 p.m.

At the May Day Procession – Fantasy Without Borders!, a traditional meeting point at the pond in Kobelec was scheduled for May 1, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.; the event was scheduled to take place at KD Rájec, Rájec 38, Černava. Černava Day 2026 was scheduled as a free public event on September 5, 2026, on the large football pitch in Černava, featuring human foosball, Kin-Ball, and a musical mini-festival.

A procession of small, glowing mountain spirits led from Černava through the dark forest to the bell tower in Rájec; Martin led it on horseback.

Nature and Surrounding Area

The mountains Díže, Tisovský vrch, Rudenský Špičák, and Perninský vrch are located in the vicinity of Černava. The Schlackenwerth Monastery is also located nearby.

A new pavilion with changing facilities for anglers and the general public was completed at Karčák Pond.
