Pomos brings together the coast, a fishing shelter harbor, and a hiking trail that ends in the village. These features offer different perspectives on a stay: fishing and harbor history, a linear hike lasting several hours, and the village beach. The Natural History Museum is another local feature. It is housed in a modern building beside a riverbed, but is closed until further notice for renovation work. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether hiking, the coast, or local history will shape your travel plans.

Harbor, Fishing, and History

A fishing shelter harbor is located on the coast near Cape Pomós. According to the municipality, professional and recreational fishers use the harbor area. The municipality says the harbor supplies holidaymakers in the area and restaurants in the region with fresh fish. This connects the harbor with fishing and the regional food supply. If you are also interested in local food culture during your trip, this offers a concrete link between the harbor area and the region’s food.

The harbor’s development also has specific historical milestones. From 1983, the small harbor in the area was substantially expanded using public funds. In 1984, Pomós fishing shelter harbor accommodated four fishing boats, on which seven local residents were employed. Together, these dates provide a historical context for the harbor area: the start of the expansion is followed by a snapshot of the boats and the work associated with them locally. If you want to experience the coast through more than just its scenery, this offers a concrete point of reference.

Hiking Trail and Coast

The linear Symvoulas Hiking Trail is 11 km long and ends in Pomós; according to the Cyprus Forestry Department, it takes about 3–4 hours. This makes a hike lasting several hours a tangible part of a trip. The linear route and Pomós as its endpoint give the outing a clear framework, while the duration remains an estimate. If hiking is a deciding factor for you, you can take the route into account as a destination in your planning and fit it into your stay.

The beach is another coastal feature: the Pafos Regional Tourism Board lists Pomós Beach as a beach in Pomós. Together with the harbor, it distinguishes this side of the village from the hiking trail. When deciding what makes Pomos interesting to you, two different focuses are available: the coast and fishing on the one hand, and a named linear hike with a stated length and estimated duration on the other.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Pomos, you can relate this distinction to the purpose of your trip. A hike lasting several hours is a different focus from the coast, harbor, and fishing.
