Mazotos appeals to travellers who do not want to limit their stay to a single holiday theme. In the village, the Camel Park offers animal experiences, while Petreon Sculpture Park and the Costas Argyrou Museum offer different discoveries. There is also the organised beach at Pouzis; the Mazotos shipwreck is nearby. This gives you a choice of activities, art, beach and an archaeological site in the sea when planning your holiday.

Animals and the Beach as Distinct Holiday Highlights

The Camel Park was established as a camel farm in 1998. Its facilities include a swimming pool and donkey and pony rides. The pool and riding activities appeal to different interests, giving the park a distinct place in your holiday plans. If you are interested in donkey or pony rides, you can include them in your holiday plans. The availability of facilities and activities may change; check which options are available before your visit.

Pouzis offers a different experience. The organised beach is equipped with sun loungers and parasols. Check in advance whether these facilities will be available during your visit.

Art in the Sculpture Park and Museum

Petreon Sculpture Park also includes Archontariki, an area for various exhibitions. The Costas Argyrou Museum focuses on a specific artist: it displays mainly stone and wood sculptures by Costas Argyrou, as well as mosaics and his paintings. Several materials and forms of expression are represented side by side, while the collection remains closely associated with Argyrou's name.

The gallery is on the east side of the main building. It contains religious mosaic pictures and cenotaphs of Argyrou and his wife. Cenotaphs are symbolic tombs; together with the mosaic pictures, they create a distinct focus within the gallery.

The distinction is useful when choosing an art-focused visit: the park combines sculptures with an exhibition area, while the museum focuses on Argyrou's work and the contents of its gallery. You can therefore decide whether you would rather focus on the park setting or a collection featuring a range of artistic media during your trip.

The Mazotos Shipwreck Nearby

Around 500 to 800 visible amphorae lie on a sandy, almost level seabed at the nearby Mazotos shipwreck; most are from Chios. They are spread across an area measuring 16 × 6 metres. The site and seabed give the archaeological location a tangible sense of scale, while the amphorae make the extent of the find easier to picture.
