Novigrad: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Fortica Fortress rises on a hill above Novigrad. It is registered as protected cultural heritage of Croatia under registration number Z-4198. An Illyrian hillfort stood on the site of the fortress, dating from between 2000 and 1000 BC. In 1386, the Hungarian-Croatian Queen Maria and her mother Elisabeth were imprisoned in the fortress.

Novigrad is home to KUĆA DEŽDERATOVICA, an interpretation centre dedicated to the area's maritime and fishing heritage.

The Church of St. Kate is the oldest church in Novigrad. The Lika-Krbava magnate and Croatian Ban Butko Kuriaković had it built in 1393.

The parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a neo-stylistic building in the shape of a Latin cross, constructed from stone from Novigrad. It houses a votive statue of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows from the 16th century.

Novigrad has a natural pebble beach. At Novigrad Beach, there is an underwater educational trail where visitors can explore the marine world. Novigrad Beach offers kayaking, pedal boating, rowing and windsurfing.

Every year, Novigrad traditionally hosts the “Okusi Novigradske dagnje” festival, where mussels freshly caught by experienced fishermen are prepared.
