Culture and History
St. Marina's Church was built at the beginning of the 16th century at the head of Marina Bay, on the presumed foundations of an older medieval church. In the 1980s, it was converted into a gallery and no longer has a religious function.
St. James's Church was built outside Marina's fortification walls from the stone remains of the Renaissance walls. Its floor plan follows the shape of a Latin cross. Marina Tower was reconstructed and converted into a gastronomic and tourist facility.
A free guided walking tour uses a costumed interpreter and real medieval sites to bring figures from the local cultural heritage to life.
St. Philip and James's Cave
St. Philip and James's Cave, also called the Grotto, is an elliptical cave on the southeastern slope of Plića Hill. It is approximately 62 metres long and up to 19 metres wide. It contains a chapel and altars; it also served as a sanctuary. In and around the cave are a Gothic inscription from the 14th century, ancient wall remains, and medieval tombstones.
Local Production
Marina olive oil is a locally produced product made using traditional methods.
