Ervenik: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ervenik lies on the banks of the Zrmanja. The village is home to the Church of St Michael the Archangel and its medieval stećci cemetery complex, which are designated as cultural heritage.

Culture and History

The present-day Church of St Michael the Archangel was built in 1839 and consecrated in 1844. The cemetery surrounding the church contains 23 stećci, 9 of which are decorated with various motifs.

The Church of St Nicholas is located in the cemetery in Donji Ervenik; it is used for Orthodox liturgy.

The Church of St George in Radučić is located nearby within the municipality of Ervenik. It is listed in the Croatian Register of Preventively Protected Cultural Heritage.

Other historic structures can also be found in the municipality: the Church of St Luke in Mokro Polje is an originally medieval Romanesque church with a later-added Gothic-style vault and a Neo-Romanesque bell gable. The Church of St Elijah in Oton is an originally medieval church with Romanesque and Gothic elements. Keglević Fortress on the Zrmanja is associated with a square tower and surviving wall remains.

Nature

Almost the entire area of the municipality of Ervenik lies within the Natura 2000 ecological network. The municipality is also associated with a diversity of landscapes and natural features protected by Velebit Nature Park and Krka National Park.

Rafting and canoeing tours on the Zrmanja are possible only between Kaštel Žegarski and Muškovci and depend on water levels.

Events

Mokropoljski susreti is a cultural, artistic, entertainment and sporting event associated with the municipality of Ervenik. The event has been held annually in Mokro Polje for more than half a century.
