Koretinec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Koretinec stretches from valuable agricultural lowlands across hills to the Plitvica River. To the southwest, the village is bordered by forest, while valuable agricultural land lies to the northeast.

Landscape

Koretinec developed along two parallel roads connected by cross streets. An old rural road leads through Maruševec, Čalinec, Koretinec, Ladanje Donje and Ladanje Gornje, descending to the Greda–Vinica road near the Opeka Arboretum.

The ridge along the Koretinec–Čalinec road faces south, lies in front of a forest and offers views.

In the immediate surroundings of Koretinec, the Opeka Arboretum is protected as a monument of park architecture and as an arboretum. It is also regarded there as a year-round tourist destination.

Culture and History

Nearby, Bajnski dvori Castle lies between Gornje Ladanje and Donje Ladanje on the slope of Borovlje Hill and is surrounded by a large park. Bajnski dvori is regarded there as a castle park.

The Maruševec Castle estate includes a historic English park in the immediate surroundings of Koretinec. The surviving areas are protected as a horticultural monument, and several old coniferous and deciduous trees have been preserved. Maruševec Castle dates from 1618 and has a tower from the 19th century.

The historic road corridor in the wider regional surroundings of Koretinec was a branch of a later Roman road connecting Poetovio, Aquae Iassae and Andautonia.

Festivals and Local Traditions

During the Jure Zeleni tradition on Jurjevo, a figure portrayed by a young man and dressed in green birch branches would walk around accompanied by young men. The KUD “KLARUŠ” from Maruševec continues this tradition today. At the 23rd Folklore Days in Maruševec, the KUD Uljanik Pula, KUD Seljačka sloga Kupinec and KUD Klaruš Maruševec performed in the immediate surroundings of Koretinec.

In Druškovac, a celebration with a festive Mass takes place every year on 16 August at the Chapel of Saint Roch; the Mass is held mostly outdoors. The 2026 Jurjevo programme included lighting a bonfire at Lončaričuv brijeg; the procession passed through Koretinec.

Crafts and Regional Products

In the immediate surroundings of Koretinec, visitors could sample traditional dishes, sweets, natural liqueurs, juices and other natural products at Čiselska nedela, as well as buy unique handicrafts. The Šarena kućica craft workshop from Koretinec exhibited at Čiselska nedela in the immediate surroundings.
