Nature

The Terra Panonica permanent exhibition presents five habitats in six thematic areas: the forests of the Dilj Mountains, the landscape around Lake Sovsko, the surroundings of the Orljava River, fragrant meadows, and Trbušnjak Cave. At the same time, it showcases the natural heritage of Pleternica and Požega-Slavonia County. The exhibition includes a VR immersion experience of the prehistoric Pannonian Sea, the exploration of plant and animal species using a tablet, educational kits, and a short animated film.

Pleternica's small hydroelectric power plant is also designed as an educational mini-centre for green energy.

Trails and Landscape

The Cesta ruža i vina begins in the centre of Pleternica and runs 3.5 kilometres through a vineyard landscape. It ends at the Bačva viewpoint on Starac Hill, from where the vineyards and valley can be seen. The route can be explored on foot, by bicycle, bus, tourist train, or, by prior arrangement, in a horse-drawn carriage.

The Poučna staza Starac runs from the parish church via the Chapel of St Peter to Starac Hill. It includes a rest area, the Bačva viewpoint overlooking the Zlatna Valley, and ten educational panels. The trail passes through woodland and highlights the protection of forests and biodiversity.

Culture

The Muzej bećarca explains the bećarac singing tradition through local life, customs, clothing, original objects, seasonal traditions, and notable performers. It also features a karaoke-style workshop, a video game centred on the tambura, the opportunity to try a real tambura instrument, and educational workshops.

Trg bećarca is located by the Orljava River. Its colourful paving symbolically imitates the fields of Slavonia; raised areas form an amphitheatre overlooking the river. The new Church of St Nicholas was blessed in 1971, after the previous church had been demolished.

The Chapel of St Peter on Starac Hill above Pleternica is used for a Stations of the Cross service on Palm Sunday. It is also visited for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

Places of Worship and Festivals

The Our Lady of Tears Sanctuary in Pleternica is considered Croatia's only officially recognised sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Tears. It is active year-round; a votive day is held on the last Saturday of every month.

The Devetnica Gospi od Suza takes place annually in Pleternica from 23 to 31 August and ends with a candlelit procession. In mid-June, as part of LIDAS, Pleternica hosts the children's tambura festival Cvjetići glazbe. It promotes children's music and a tambura tradition believed to be more than 30 years old.

Anyone wishing to rent an apartment in Pleternica is choosing this destination for their stay. Another place in the same administrative unit is Ratkovica.
