Veprinac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Veprinac is a medieval settlement on the slopes of Mount Učka. In Croatia’s Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage, the town is listed as a historic urban ensemble.

Those who choose Veprinac as their holiday destination can combine their stay with the wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture

The town gates at the entrance have three openings; together with part of the walls and the town loggia, they are registered as cultural heritage features. The parish church of St. Mark has a distinctive bell tower.

The old municipal building known as “komunšćica” houses an ethnographic collection showing how the people of Opatija once lived.

On 27 April 2025, Markova Veprinac was held as a celebration of Veprinac’s patron saint, the Evangelist Mark.

Getting There

Veprinac can be reached by car or via a scenic hiking trail. The 4 km forest hiking trail from Opatija to Veprinac connects the centre of Veprinac with Slatina in Opatija. Along the route, there are 45 directional signs and ten information panels, whose contents have been translated into five foreign languages.

The Opatija Hiking Trail includes the Veprinac checkpoint, KT2, at St. Mark’s Church.
