Nature and Trails

A hiking route described as demanding starts in Brseč, climbs to the 835-metre-high Sisol, continues along the Učka ridge via Šikovac and descends to the ruins of Kožljak Castle. The described circular route is 17 kilometres long and includes 1,400 metres of elevation gain.

The hike from Brseč to Sisol offers views over the Kvarner. The natural opening Provrtenica is located near the ridge; Sisol is also part of several hiking loops. In the old town of Brseč, there is a marked hike with QR codes.

Townscape and History

The historic centre of Brseč stands on a cliff 157 metres above sea level. Brseč is considered a place with preserved narrow medieval streets and passageways. Most of the houses are considered to have been built in the 17th century.

Šterna, the town's old well, is located in the central square of the old town. Next to the Church of St Mary Magdalene, a rock offers a viewpoint over the surrounding area.

Culture

Mašunerija was built in 1654 by the Brseč priest Juraj Mavrović. The Church of St Mary Magdalene dates from the 15th century.
