Coast and Marina

The ethnographic museum contains objects belonging to fishermen and farmers from Krk, as well as traditional costumes from all parts of the island of Krk.

The library of Košljun Monastery contains around 30,000 titles. Its collection also includes Ptolemy's atlas, which was printed in Venice in 1511 and survives in one of three extant editions.

Nature and Trails

The Pastirske staze rise from Punat to Krk's highest peaks, including Obzovo at 568 metres. The trails pass dry-stone walls, shepherds' shelters, rainwater cisterns, sheep pens, karst ponds, sheep pastures and viewpoints with panoramic vistas. In the area of the Pastirske staze, encounters are possible with protected griffon vultures as well as deer, hares, foxes, butterflies, lizards, snakes and frogs.

The themed Tri križi trail provides information about the coastal karst and offers views of Puntarska draga. A total of 540 plant species have been recorded on Košljun; the islet is also home to an olive grove and a lush forest of holm oaks and manna ashes.

Taste and Tradition

The olive harvest continues to be a social event for the residents of Punat and the island of Krk. The restaurants and taverns of Punat serve Krk lamb with Šurlice, homemade Pršut, Kvarner scampi and fish prepared with Punat olive oil.
