Culture

Juršići is home to the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, where Blessed Miroslav Bulešić was baptised. The parish church of St. Francis of Assisi was built in 1874 and consecrated in 1875. It has an integrated 18-metre-high bell tower with two bells. The church is also associated with the annual Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on 4 October.

The nearby Church of St. Quirinus was converted into a single-nave Baroque chapel and received an entrance porch in 1629. It is the surviving central nave of a three-nave early Christian basilica from the 6th century.

From Juršići, Roveria leads to the Chapel of St. Quirinus. The chapel located along the route was built in 1730 on the site of an earlier early Christian basilica with one nave and two side aisles.

History

After the plague of 1630, the parish area of Juršići was resettled under Venetian rule by Croatian families from Dalmatia. In the Middle Ages, the parish area was known as Sv. Kvirin; there was a fortress and a church there.

Nature

After Sveti Kirin, Roveria passes through fields and forests to Cukrići and then climbs uphill back to Juršići. The route crosses a preserved natural landscape whose name is derived from the Italian word for oak.
