South of Rovinj lies the protected Zlatni rt/Punta Corrente forest park. It stretches between Lone and Škaraba Bays and the Montauro and Punta Corrente capes. Promenades, paths and meadows combine here with plantings of pine, cypress and laurel, as well as remarkable exotic trees, to create a park-arboretum landscape.
Škaraba, Otočić Sveta Katarina, Otočić Figarola and Otočić Banjol are located near Rovinj.
Culture and History
The Church of St. Euphemia and Sveta Eufemija are also located near Rovinj. Rovinj’s old town occupies a former island that was connected to the mainland in 1763. Its Venetian heritage is reflected in paved alleyways, colourful houses with balconies, narrow stairways and the bell tower of the Church of St. Euphemia. At the same time, the town preserves a Croatian-Italian bilingual identity.
Key visitor attractions in central Rovinj include the church and bell tower of St. Euphemia, walking through the old town’s alleyways, Balbi’s Arch, the harbour and Zlatni rt forest park. The town’s maritime and fishing heritage is represented by Kuća o batani.
