In the broader destination area of Tar-Vabriga, centuries-old olive groves, forests, vineyards and the beaches of the Lanterna peninsula come together with the traditions of fishermen, winegrowers and olive farmers. Culture
Vabriga preserves several sacred monuments. The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary has a bell gable with two bells. A Romanesque church of the Blessed Virgin Mary dates from the 13th century and has a square apse. This church also contains two altarpieces, including a work by Zorzi Ventura from 1607.
The Church of St Antun in Vabriga is considered to date from the 16th or 17th century.
In the vicinity of Vabriga is the Fisherman's House Santa Marina, an interpretation centre that presents the lives of local fishermen. An interactive exhibition displays fishing equipment and objects; the house also offers professional guided tours with a tasting basket of local specialities.
Routes
The official 121 Olives Trail is a 14.9-kilometre cycling route classified as easy. The 121 Olive Route is a family cycling route; it starts and ends at a public meeting point in the centre of Vabriga. On the 121 Olives Trail, Stancija Blek, also known as Old Tar, is designated as the site of the first medieval settlement from which present-day Tar later developed.
A 9.4-kilometre hiking trail in the Vabriga area runs along the Santa Marina–Vabriga road, passes through Vabriga and by the small Church of St Antun. The walking time is approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours; the route is suitable for cycling, and the road section is lit. The “Walking by the ancient villas” route takes approximately three to four and a half hours.
In the vicinity, at Rt Zub at the foot of the lighthouse on Cape Zub, there is an underwater snorkelling spot.
Landscape
The Stojnić olive-growing estate in Vabriga-Abrega comprises a grove with 3,500 olive trees. The estate includes a tasting room for visitors with space for 20 people.
Culinary Delights
Route 121 leads to the fishing harbour of Santa Marina. The restaurants there are considered providers of authentic seafood specialities. Oysters are cultivated in the harbour in the Bay of St Marina.
Traditionally, the Fešta od pedoči was held in mid-August in Santa Marina near Vabriga. In the 2025 events calendar, the Fešta od Sardoni is listed as an anchovy festival in Vabriga.
