Culture and History

In Farkaševac, Farkaševa gradina is registered as a cultural asset under designation P-4591. It dates from the 14th to the 16th century and is classified as a preventively protected cultural asset. Farkaševa gradina is a medieval circular fortification with two defensive moats that were formerly connected to a stream.

In Kabal, the parish church of Saint Nicholas is one of the preventively protected cultural monuments in the Municipality of Farkaševac. The Orthodox filial church of Saint Nicholas was built in 1760. The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Bolč is a late Baroque single-nave church from the late 18th century and is classified as a protected cultural asset. The cultural and historical complex of Bolč also includes an archaeological area of a medieval settlement surrounded by a moat, the parish church and parish house, historic residential and agricultural buildings on large plots that have been preserved in their original form, and an avenue of horse chestnut trees; together, they form an area of historical, architectural and landscape value.

Nature and Rural Areas

The Česma area was protected in 1982 as a special forest vegetation reserve with a permanent experimental plot and is associated with the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme. The Česma–Bolčanski lug hunting ground is predominantly a lowland area. It is bordered by the Vukšinac and Siščani fishponds, the Velika and Česma watercourses, and former river bends.

The Česma–Bolčanski lug hunting ground provides a habitat for protected species such as white-tailed eagles, black storks, beavers and otters.

The Municipality of Farkaševac is characterised by agriculture and livestock farming, a peaceful rural setting and high ecological quality. Agricultural, eco- and hunting tourism are specifically identified as areas for tourism development.
