Dubrava: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The medieval episcopal town of Dubrava was surrounded by a wall with nine semicircular towers and contained a square-plan castle with four corner towers. In 1527, the Croatian Sabor convened here and elected Ivan Zapolja as king.

Culture and History

The parish church of St Margaret is a Gothic building dating from the late 15th century that was given a Baroque makeover in 1720. Its furnishings include a wooden high altar from 1918 with an altarpiece by the painter Ivan Tišov. The altar is considered a rare example of an altar created in the spirit of the Secession.

St Martin's Chapel was partially demolished in 1819; the present-day chapel was subsequently built. A Gothic triumphal arch, Gothic windows and Gothic frescoes depicting saints have been preserved there.

Events and Traditions

The 13th traditional motorcycle and cycling gathering began in Križevci, continued to Dubrava and Nova Kapela, and ended there; the vehicles were blessed in front of St Margaret's Church.

The Easter egg exhibition “Uskrs u Dubravi” took place on 8 April 2017 in the school and sports hall. It was organised by the “Sveta Margareta” association, with the Municipality of Dubrava as patron. The exhibition was attended by 54 exhibitors from six counties of central Croatia. They presented traditional Easter eggs from their regions, as well as eggs decorated using modern techniques.

DubravaFest is a recurring municipal festival. The third edition is scheduled for 7 to 9 June 2024, and the festival was announced as part of the Days of the Municipality of Dubrava for 2026.

Landscape

Dubrava is located in Zagreb County on the border between Moslavina and Prigorje. The area of the Municipality of Dubrava is characterised by agriculture and livestock farming; established branches include fruit and vegetable growing as well as pig and cattle farming.
