The parish church of Saint George in Marinci was built in 1758 in the late Baroque style. Its bell tower was added in 1808. Inside, the iconostasis and icons date from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the center of Marinci was built in 1855. This church was destroyed in 1992 during the Croatian War. Construction of a new Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary began in 2003; it was completed on September 8, 2005, and blessed by Bishop Marin Srakić.

The Chapel of Saint Paraskeva in Marinci was built in 1926 at a site where a masonry cross stood above running water. On September 8, 2021, the church feast was celebrated at the Mala Gospa branch church in Marinci.

Remembrance and History

The “Ranjena golubica” monument, erected in July 2003, stands in the local cemetery of Marinci. It commemorates Croatian defenders and civilians who became victims of the Croatian War.

The breakthrough operation that took place on October 13, 1991, proceeded along the Nuštar–Marinci–Bogdanovci–Vukovar axis.

Geographical Location

Marinci is situated on the Vuka River and near state road D55, which connects Vukovar and Vinkovci. In the wider region around Marinci, the so-called Corn Road ran along several unpaved roads through cornfields from the Vukovar suburb of Lužac to Bogdanovci.

Places and Routes

At Ladanjska kuća Maras, guests can rent bicycles to explore the surrounding area. In the southwest of Vukovar, a gray chapel marks the beginning of the so-called Corn Road, which is part of the Path of Salvation.
