Nijemci: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The central parish church of St Catherine of Alexandria in Nijemci is a Baroque church dating from the 14th century. It was built on the banks of the Bosut at the prehistoric archaeological site of Gradina. Traces of Roman architecture were found beneath it; graves associated with the Bijelo-Brdo culture were also discovered there.

The Luka Natali Local Museum in the parish pastoral centre of Nijemci presents the history of the settlement. It includes an ethnographic room in the traditional style and a collection of more than 700 cultural, historical and ethnographic objects.

Regional Cuisine

Nijemci and the surrounding villages are associated with Srijem-style dishes and products. These include čvarci, kulen, kulenova seka, sausages made from the meat of the black Slavonian pig, ajvar, cheese, breads, preserves, honey, čobanac, fish stew, carp, game dishes and seasonal vegetables.
