Culture and History
Historic Dvor developed as a settlement of the Military Frontier. Its layout was organized around a central square park and buildings of the military administration. The settlement, formerly called Podovi, was given the name Dvor after Emperor Joseph II visited and stayed there in 1775.
In the town and municipality, the Knjižnica i čitaonica Dvor serves as a cultural center. A 300-square-meter space with children's, multimedia, adult, study, reading, and exhibition areas is available for this purpose.
The Kapela sv. Marije Magdalene in Zrin is an exceptionally well-preserved example of late Gothic sacral architecture in Banija and is of national importance. Kaštel Gvozdansko was built in the 15th century to protect silver and lead mines as well as a mint. The castle is of national importance due to the preservation of its historic buildings and its role in defending Croatian territory against Ottoman attacks.
Stari grad Zrin is a multilayered archaeological site with evidence of prehistoric pottery. At the same time, it was a medieval fortified noble town associated with the Babonić and Zrinski families. In Zrin, Dani Zrinskih is also part of the cultural program: The living history program includes a medieval fair, a historical exhibition, and educational workshops.
In the municipality, the Lebrenica educational trail project was completed on December 31, 2023. Laudonov šanac in the Lebrenica forest is listed as an archaeological site dating from the late 18th century. The Lebrenica educational trail leads toward the fortification of Lebrenica, also known as Laudanov šanac. Laudonov šanac is described as a valuable natural and cultural heritage site.
Nature
The meadows on the left bank of the Una are important for the conservation of wetland birds during spring and autumn migration as well as in winter. The part of Zrinska gora located within Općina Dvor is part of the ecological network and contains preserved target species.
Near Gornja Stupnica, Kanjon Ljeskovac is described as Croatia's largest and richest occurrence of certain ophiolitic vegetation. This also includes species not known anywhere else in Croatia.
Classification
Road traffic dominates around Dvor. Rail access is limited, and there is no bus route connecting Dvor with Volinja railway station.
