Sinac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vrela Gacke is protected as a natural monument. The three springs are located next to Sinac on the southeastern edge of the Gacko Field; the sources of the Gacka are situated below Godača and Venac in Sinac. Majerovo vrilo is considered the highlight for visitors to the Gacka springs.

Nature

At Majerovo vrilo, visitors can watch flour being milled and buy freshly milled flour. The Barkanova staza also passes through Sinac and by Majerovo vrilo.

Culture

Gospin oltar is located on Godača Hill above Sinac. The Church of Saint Elias in Sinac was completed in 1750 in the Classicist style and is registered as protected cultural heritage under identification number Z-3951. The Kralja Tomislava well dates from 1925.

KUD Lipa Sinac originated from a tambura orchestra founded in 1923 and works to preserve the musical and oral heritage of Sinac. The residents of Sinac also maintain the traditional custom of gacko prelo; Sinčeranska čakavica is still spoken in Sinac as well.

The Štimac complex at the Klanac spring includes a watermill on a site more than 300 years old, while the present building dates from the late 19th century. The complex also includes a water-powered fulling mill and a Košić for washing or fulling woollen textiles. The Štimac family’s fulling mill is one of the very few in Croatia that have been preserved in their original form and in continuous operation.

Activities

The Barkanova staza follows the Gacka River. As a cycling route, it is 42.6 kilometres long and of moderate difficulty. The Godača Trail is around 8 kilometres long, of moderate difficulty, and takes about three hours. It begins near a hunting lodge, approximately 1 kilometre from Majerovo vrilo.

Local

The Gacka fish farm offers cold-smoked Gacka trout fillets, caviar and pâté. It also sells fish from its own production.

Geographical location

A route to the source of the Gacka near Sinac is described as running from the A1 motorway via Exit 10 for Otočac and then in the direction of Vrhovine, Korenica and Plitvice, with a turn-off to Sinac.
