Gornje Stative: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

St Mark’s Chapel stands in Gornje Stative, a small single-nave chapel on a hill with a rectangular nave and a three-sided sanctuary. The Four Karlovac Rivers Trail runs through Stative towards the hamlet of Babići in Gornje Stative, follows the Dobra riverbank past a mill and a waterfall, climbs up to the chapel, and continues through vineyards and woodland.

Culture

St Mark’s Chapel is listed as protected cultural heritage in Croatia. Držićev mlin mill on the Dobra is listed in the local cultural heritage inventory of Gornje Stative.

KUD Stative collects, preserves and presents objects of traditional value for an ethnographic collection. As part of the 2023 Karlovac Advent programme, the cultural association also held a Christmas decoration-making workshop at the premises of the local community of Gornje Stative.

Nature

The fishing area of ŠRD Ozalj covers the left bank of the Dobra from the village of Stative to its confluence with the Kupa at Mahićno – a stretch of approximately 10 kilometres.

Traditions and Events

The cultural event Ljeto na Dobri included traditional rural competitions in wood sawing, sack racing and tug-of-war, and was scheduled to take place at the Krvavi mlin bathing area in Gornje Stative.

Around Fašnik, members of KUD Stative bake krafne, also known as pokladnice, and describe this practice as a long-standing tradition. For 2026, KUD Stative presented a folklore programme featuring the traditional dance Šetal sam se gori doli, the a cappella song Ej majka Maru, as well as polka and drmeš.

Transport

Municipal bus route 7 connects Karlovac Bus Station with Gornje Stative. It serves the stops at G. Stative School and at the Gornje Stative Bridge.
