Nature

Vrachanski Balkan Nature Park is a protected area of international importance. Its karst landscape contains more than 500 caves and abysses. The Natura 2000 zone BG0000166 Vrachanski Balkan also includes sub-Pannonian steppe grassland habitat.

Culture

Kravoder is associated with archaeological remains from Roman times, including the ruins of a fortress near the settlement, and has a church. The Church of St. Nicholas in Kravoder was built in 1909. Above the entrance to a church, a stone relief depicts two dragons facing each other with long, curved tails.

Approximately 1.13 km southwest of the center of Kravoder lies the ancient Vorovo Minore fortress, also called TrÅ­nchovo Kale. It is situated on a naturally fortified terrace bounded on three sides by the Botunya River, is accessible only from the south, and has few visible remains.

Since 2012, a summer water festival has been organized near MÅ­tnishki Monastery at the initiative of the Kravoder community center. Six Thracian burial mounds have been recorded southwest of Kravoder; one of them contained a burial with iron weapons. Several coin finds have also been discovered in the vicinity of Kravoder.
