Kipra: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

Kipra’s Hristo Botev Chitalishte was founded and named on 4 December 1927 on the initiative of teacher Georgi Kalchev. The annual village festival on 23 May includes a traditional kurban, a blessing, songs, dances, horo dancing in the square, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the local memorial ossuary.

The former name Taptak or Tabdik is recorded in an Ottoman livestock register dated 12 September 1573. By an order published on 14 August 1934, the settlement was renamed from Taptak to Kipra. The Hristo Botev Chitalishte currently includes the Kipra Ensemble and the Kiprenki Folk Dance Club. In 2013, the ensemble performed at an international folklore festival in Loznica, Serbia.

Kipra’s Ethnographic House is located in a building dating from the late 19th century and houses an ethnographic exhibition. On 17 June 2017, it was included in the “Varna–Pobiti Kamani–Mosaic Museum” tourist route and opened for organized visits. A visitor program at the Ethnographic House included demonstrations of wool spinning and yarn weaving on a vertical loom, described as the only one in northeastern Bulgaria. Tourists visiting the Ethnographic House could buy local wine and Kipra honey there.

Nature

Kipra is located on the wooded foothills of the Franga Plateau, on the slope of the Devnya Lowland. The village lies at the upper ends of three gorges descending from the plateau.

In the village center, there is an eco-rest area with a pavilion, a bench, a book house, bird feeders, a recycling bin, and a bicycle rack. The eco-rest area also includes a rock garden with a solar fountain and a rainwater collection basin.

From the west, a turnoff from the Devnya–Suvorovo road leads to Kipra.
