The Cape St. Athanasius archaeological site is an archaeological monument of national significance and an ancient centre of wine production. Visitors can see a restored early Christian basilica, three baptisteries and an ancient winery there.

The Antique Fortress at Cape St. Athanasius was opened to visitors in 2014 following a restoration and conservation project. The complex includes Winery No. 1, a preserved production and storage building with a lever spindle press.

Byala is associated with viticulture and winemaking and is described as a place where Dimyat wine is produced.
