Zlatitsa lies in the Zlatitsa Valley, while the peaks of the Central Balkan mountain range rise above the town. The Svisti Plaz peak is 1,888.3 metres high and lies in the Zlatitsa area. The Topolnitsa River flows through Zlatitsa Municipality along its main section, passing through a deep, wooded valley.

Nature and Trails

The Spasovo Spring lies at the foot of the Stara Planina next to a small waterfall on the Koru Dere. A yellow-marked tourist trail connects the Svisti Plaz mountain hut with Zlatitsa.

Culture

The Monastery Complex of the Holy Ascension is a locally significant cultural monument next to Spasovo Kladanche in Zlatitsa. The Chapel of Saint Petka in Zlatitsa celebrates its patronal feast on Svetliy Friday, one week after Easter. The Orthodox Church of Saint George the Great Martyr in Zlatitsa is associated with records dating from the mid-18th century.

The Zlatitsa museum collection includes folk costumes, home textile products, household items, craft-related objects, printed publications, photographs and works of art.

History and Orientation

Zlatitsa has a tourist information centre in the former House of the Mechanisators “Yuri Gagarin”. Zlatitsa railway station was included in a railway project; the designs for the Zlatitsa and Pirdop railway stations were mirror images of each other.
