Gurgulyat combines a distinctive wartime history with a pantheon, a church, and a route. The Battle of Gurgulyat was an episode of the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885 and is described as one of the most significant engagements of that war.
Culture and History
The Gurgulyat Pantheon stands in the Tsarkviste area and commemorates those who were killed in the Battle of Gurgulyat during the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885. It was built between 1983 and 1985 to mark the centenary of the Serbo-Bulgarian War. Its shape corresponds to a truncated quadrangular pyramid; the structure is approximately 20 metres high and 25 to 30 metres wide. It covers an area of approximately 700 square metres.
On the hill above Gurgulyat in the Tsarkviste area, the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah formerly stood before the Gurgulyat Pantheon took its place at the site. The new Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah is located in the centre of Gurgulyat. Its construction began in 2005, and on 10 October a new Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah was consecrated in Gurgulyat. The church has a carved wooden iconostasis and painted icons.
Trails and Landscape
The Galyabovtsi–Petlyuka–Gurgulyat route connects the Galyabovtsi–Petlyuka eco-hiking trail with the Gurgulyat–Petlyuka eco-cycling trail and leads to the Gurgulyat Pantheon. The route includes a rest area with a children's playground and offers the opportunity for a picnic in nature.
An observation tower stands at the highest point of the route. From there, the view extends over the individual rock formations and the river gorge.

Aleksievata Kashta is described as a three-star family hotel with a conference hall and a restaurant for 70 people. Nearby is Petlyuka, approximately 1 kilometre east of Gurgulyat.
