Etropole: Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
The Historical Museum of Etropole is housed in a konak built between 1853 and 1870 and recognized as an architectural cultural monument. Its collection is spread across ten exhibition halls and includes more than 1,200 cultural artifacts, photographs, and documents.
Near Etropole, the Holy Trinity Monastery operated a scriptorium in the 16th and 17th centuries and developed a literary and calligraphic-artistic school. The priest gives a lecture there in Bulgarian.
The Arnaudov House is a two-story house from the mid-19th century, dating from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival, and houses a museum exhibition on domestic life, furnishings, household objects, textiles, and traditional crafts. The Clock Tower of Etropole was built in 1710 by the master builder Todor and is described as a symbol of the town. The Pavelpanchov House served as General Gurko's headquarters in 1877.
In the Etropole area, the remains of a Thracian settlement near Bogotvor date from the 5th to the 4th century BC. Traditional crafts preserved in Etropole Municipality include wagon-making, blacksmithing, knife sharpening, wood carving, weaving, horseshoeing, leatherworking, and corn milling.
