Borino: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Devil's Trail can be accessed from Borino via a car park near Chataka; the car park is located approximately 5 km southeast of the village. The marked path leads through an old coniferous forest to Devil's Bridge, the Hidden Waterfalls and the confluence of the Buynovska River. Wooden shelters for resting are located along the route.

Nature

The Kastrakli Reserve in the territory of the Borino Forestry protects an old black pine forest, endemic plant species and rock formations; a small reservoir is located nearby.

The entire municipality of Borino is part of the Natura 2000 network. Tourists and local residents collect medicinal plants, mushrooms and fruits in the municipality. Oregano, raspberries, blueberries and porcini mushrooms, among others, can be found there.

The protected natural landmark Devil's Bridge and Waterfall is located in the territories of Borino and Kozhari. The protected locality of Borino is located in the Borino area and was reclassified in 2007 from the buffer zone of the Kastrakli Reserve.

Near Borino stands a protected black pine that is 34 metres tall and approximately 100 years old and is locally known as the Lyra of Orpheus.

Culture

Borino's tangible culture includes crafts, patterned textiles, traditional costumes and folklore associated with three ethnic groups. Woollen textiles and traditional costumes are made on looms. In Borino, there are two types of folk costumes and textiles associated with Turkish and Bulgarian religious affiliation.

Local folklore is preserved mainly through songs and dances. The Authentic Folklore Group and the Borinche Children's Dance Folklore Ensemble contribute to preserving Borino's folklore. The Borino Ensemble's repertoire includes Bulgarian Rhodope songs.

The stated purpose of Borinche is to preserve local Rhodope and Bulgarian traditions, customs and folklore.

Geographical Location

Borino is located on the Krichim–Mihalkovo–Devin–Dospat road in the Western Rhodopes. The main southern Rhodope road through Borino leads from Smolyan and Devin towards Dospat, Gotse Delchev, Batak and Velingrad. The area around Borino can be reached by bus or car.

The Buynovsko Gorge is the longest gorge in Bulgaria and was designated a natural attraction in 1971. Several tourist trails have been established in the Buynovsko Gorge area.
