Culture and History
The Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Skobelevo was built in 1927 with funds and labor provided by local residents and donors. Following extensive repairs, it was renovated recently.
Construction of the local mosque began around 1720. It is described as having survived to this day. Around 1800, a Turkish school held classes in the mosque.
A local-history school expedition researched the life and work of the militiaman Mincho Petkov Kalfov, as well as the genealogy of a family. The children's folklore group Zagorche performed at republican festivals and won medals. A local school principal helped further develop Bulgarian folklore and promote it in the region.
Water and Traditions
The Skobelevo Reservoir is located in the Chala Bair area in the territory of Skobelevo and is designated for sport fishing.
At a documented village and church festival in Skobelevo, the Svetlina-1928 community center, the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the town hall were among the organizers. Skobelevo's traditional village festival coincides with the feast of the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God on September 8.
