Culture

Svezhen's old quarter was declared an architectural and historical reserve in 1987. The Svezhen Reserve comprises 110 architectural sites, mainly houses. Five sites in this reserve are of national cultural significance. Svezhen preserves traditional Bulgarian houses characteristic of the Sredna Gora region.

The old Church of St George in Svezhen is also part of the village's history: it housed the Adzhar Literary School. Church manuscripts were created in Svezhen, some of which have survived to this day. The village's heritage also includes traditions of rose cultivation.

There are Thracian burial mounds in the area around Svezhen.

Hiking

The Svezhen Hut is located in Sredna Gora at an altitude of 1,050 metres. From Svezhen, it can be reached via a marked trail in about 1.5 hours.

Near Svezhen, the Snake's Egg is described as the only documented megalithic egg in Bulgaria. The megalithic site associated with the Snake's Egg is located about 1 kilometre beyond the access-road turnoff.
