Rosen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Rosen is situated on the southern slopes of the Ovchi Hills and on the left bank of the Luda Yana. There is a fishing area nearby, approximately 1.8 km northeast of Rosen on the banks of the Luda Yana. It can be reached via a 1.6 km unpaved road that branches off from the asphalt road on the Rosen–Road 8003 section. A body of water with fishing services is also associated with the area of Rosen.
Nature
The location between hilly terrain and the river defines the geographical setting of the village. In addition to the southern slopes of the Ovchi Hills and the left bank of the Luda Yana, the nearby fishing area is also one of Rosen’s explicitly documented landscape features.
Culture
The “Angel Velichkov-1902” community center in Rosen was founded in 1902. The building contains a library hall, a concert hall, and several smaller rooms. The community center’s library grew from 200 volumes in 1928 to more than 14,500 volumes.
Palm Sunday remains Rosen’s largest celebration and is organized jointly by the community center and the mayor’s office. The Rosen community center has organized reconstructions of folk customs, including Babin Den, St. George’s Day, and Enyovden.
The Rosna Kitka folklore group operates through Rosen’s local community center and includes the Rosenche children’s singing and dancing group. A dance ensemble was founded in Rosen in 2009. Rosna Kitka returned from a festival of authentic songs with nine gold and three silver medals.
History
Rosen is associated with a memorial bust dedicated to Pencho Angelov Garev (Daskala) from the Second World War, as well as with a memorial plaque for Aleksandar G. Petkov. Seven Thracian burial mounds are located in the territory of Rosen.
Approximately 2.5 km northwest of Rosen, two burial mounds are associated with the late Roman or early Byzantine fortified settlement of Hisarya near a bend in the Luda Yana in the area of Tsar Asen. Approximately 1 km northwest of Rosen, ceramic shards from an older settlement have been recorded. According to local tradition, sick people visited the area northwest of Rosen during Rosalia to lie in the dew and seek healing.
