Gorsko Slivovo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature

The Lulyakata protected area extends across the territories of Gorsko Slivovo and Krushuna. It is a wooded lilac massif protected for its distinctive landscape. Malka Garvanitsa in Gorsko Slivovo has been mapped and is accessible to visitors.

In the surrounding area, Golyama Garvanitsa has an entrance accessible to tourists, equipped with metal stairs and platforms. Garvanitsa can be reached from Gorsko Slivovo by car or bicycle along a signposted route. The vertical Garvanitsa Cave is located about 2 kilometres from Gorsko Slivovo; the descent is via an almost vertical metal ladder.

Culture

Gorsko Slivovo is home to an Orthodox church, St. George the Victorious, built in 1852, as well as a mosque dating from 1586. The Razvitie-1872 community centre in Gorsko Slivovo runs an amateur ensemble for folk songs, humorous miniatures and recitations.

The Roman fortresses of Kaleto and Daran-Baran can be viewed in the surrounding area from the Krushuna–Karpachevo eco-trail. Gorsko Slivovo also hosted the folklore gathering Nine Songs from the Spring, which rotates annually among the nine villages of the Devetashko Plateau. The gathering presents the folklore, traditions, customs and sights of the villages on the plateau.

The Old Mill houses the Village Business Academy. Cultural events, training sessions, retreats, exhibitions and workshops take place there.

Local offerings

As of 31 December 2024, there were two café-apéritif establishments in Gorsko Slivovo. Local offerings for visitors include herbal teas. A local speciality called “Slancheva turshiya” is made from garden vegetables that are left in jars in the sun for one to two days before being moved to a cool place.

Horse-riding lessons are offered locally in connection with Gorsko Slivovo. Boat trips on underground lakes and in caves are also offered in connection with Gorsko Slivovo.

Accommodation

In December 2024, Gorsko Slivovo had one Class B guesthouse with four rooms and eight beds. As of the same date, three Class V guest-room establishments with seven rooms and 19 beds were registered.
