The Natura 2000 site BG0000295 Dolni Koriten lies within the municipality and covers 137.4 hectares there. The Natura 2000 site BG0001017 Kŭrvav Kamŭk also lies partly within the municipality. The names of the two sites refer to different geographical relationships: Dolni Koriten is recorded with a specific area within the municipality, while Kŭrvav Kamŭk extends partly into it.
Koryata, a centuries-old oak forest in the area of Dobri Dol, is also part of the protected natural heritage. It is designated as a natural monument; the relevant order is numbered 689 and dated 22.07.1987. The protected area “Occurrence of Marsh Clubmoss” is also located in the area of Dragoychintsi. It was designated by Order No. RD-143 of 18.02.2014. These different protection designations and their respective locations show how nature shapes the municipality on several levels.
Village History, Rituals and Art
A centuries-old oak in the hamlet of Todorovtsi is known as Krastato Darvo. Pagan and religious rituals were performed at this tree.
