Simeonovgrad is described as one of Bulgaria’s oldest settlements: its history spans 8,000 years, from the Early Neolithic period to the present day. History
The Church of Saint Nicholas in Simeonovgrad was opened in 1845. In the Zlati dol district, the Church of the Holy Mother of God opened in 1860. North of Simeonovgrad, in the Gradishte locality 2 km away, are the remains of medieval settlements from the 13th and 14th centuries.
