Nearby, the Poroy Reservoir extends into the area of Gyulyovtsa and is used for irrigation and fishing. The wooded Kaleto Hill lies north of the village, with traces of a fortress still preserved there. The Dyulenski Pass begins above Gyulyovtsa.

A few kilometres from Gyulyovtsa lies Siniyat Vir, a small waterfall on the Byala River. An eco-trail to Siniyat Vir was created with the support of Nesebar Municipality.

History

Ancient fortified settlements and defensive structures in the area of Gyulyovtsa formed part of the defence system along the Anchialo–Marcianopolis road. The school in Gyulyovtsa is recorded as having opened in 1870, and the community centre was founded in 1927 and has been preserved to this day.

A monument to those who fell in the wars stands in the village centre. Also located in the village centre is a memorial plaque commemorating people from Gyulyovtsa who lost their lives during the Second World War.

Wine and Tradition

National records for grape yields per decare have been recorded in the area of Gyulyovtsa. The village is also associated with homemade wines produced using traditional methods.

Gyulyovtsa holds a young wine festival every year on 14 February. As early as the 17th century, the surrounding valley was planted with oil-bearing roses, and rose oil production began.
